Make the Robijnstraat greener and more welcoming by planting trees, installing garden boxes and extra bike racks
Let’s make Robijnstraat a greener and more welcoming place. Currently there are no trees in the street and it would be really nice to change that. As the trees will be quite small in the beginning we would like to install some garden boxes to plant flowers, small bushes and grasses.
We have a lot of parking spaces for cars but it’s always hard to find a place to put the bike. We would like to substitute 2 car parking spaces with new bike racks.
The new trees, garden boxes and bike racks will not only be beneficial for the Robijnstraat but also for the adjacent Toolstraat and Lutmastraat.
At the end and at the beginning of the street the sidewalk is wider and there should therefore be enough space for the new trees and garden boxes. The garden boxes are expected to be approximately 1 by 1 meter. In the centre of the road some car parking space needs to be removed to plant the trees other-ways the sidewalk would get too narrow.
It is the intention that the municipality plants the trees and installs the bike racks. We would like to get the garden boxes supplied by Stadshout and the planting can be taken care of by residents. I already spoke to some of the neighbours and there are people who are willing to take care of the maintenance of the garden beds like pruning and watering during the summer.
I will distribute flyers to get neighbours aware of the plan and get them involved. Would be great to get some feedback from them and adjust the plan if necessary.
